Pathlight Mood & Anxiety Center Opens New Center in Sacramento to Increase Options for Those in Need of Mental Health Treatment

Pathlight’s Transdiagnostic Treatment Approach Includes Evidence-Based Modalities and Specialty Tracks for Trauma and OCD

SACRAMENTO, CA (March 21, 2022) – In response to the growing need for comprehensive, specialized mental health services in California, Pathlight Mood & Anxiety Center (Pathlight), a leading treatment provider for mood, anxiety, and trauma-related conditions, has announced the opening of a new center in Sacramento, its first in the state. Beginning March 28, Pathlight’s treatment center will accept patients to its adult and child and adolescent Partial Hospitalization (PHP) programs, in addition to a virtual Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Pathlight’s specialized treatment is designed to fill the gap between acute psychiatric hospitalization and outpatient therapy to address worsening mental health outcomes in the state.

The opening of Pathlight’s center in Sacramento comes at a critical time as the pandemic continues to intensify the need for comprehensive mental health treatment. According to Kaiser Family Foundation, from September to October 2021, 32% of adults in California reported symptoms of anxiety and/or depressive disorder. During that same time period, among the adults in California who reported experiencing symptoms, 29.9% reported needing counseling or therapy but not receiving it in the past four weeks.

“With our specialty treatment and partial hospitalization level of care, we’re providing a much-needed treatment option in the area,” says Howard Weeks, MD, MBA, Chief Medical Officer of Pathlight. “In Northern California, there are several acute hospitals that are primarily for stabilization, and programs primarily designed for substance use with mental health as a secondary focus. At Pathlight, we’re different in that our treatment takes a transdiagnostic care approach, individualized to each patient and rooted in evidence-based modalities. With seven days of programming and a strong focus on caregiver involvement, our patients and their closest supporters have ample time to learn and practice tools and strategies that will serve as their foundation for lasting wellness and prevent future mental health crises.”

Additionally, Pathlight has specialty treatment tracks for trauma and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) to individualize aspects of treatment for patients who require more specialized care.

“We have a beautiful, newly designed space, featuring specialized programming spaces,” says Lisa Strub, Regional Clinical Director at Pathlight. “In addition to the evidence-based therapy and skill development we do with our patients, being able to offer specialty programming for trauma and OCD allows us to treat each patient individually and as a whole person. It also means we can treat the many patients in our region who have had difficulty finding the level of support necessary to make a lasting impact.”

Pathlight is a well-established program with more than 15 years of treatment excellence, with treatment center locations in six states across the country and virtual telebehavioral health options in 21 states. Pathlight offers comprehensive treatment for anxiety disorders such as generalized anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder; mood disorders such as major depressive disorder; and trauma-related conditions including post-traumatic stress disorder.

The PHP level of care includes comprehensive services seven hours per day during the week and six hours per day on weekends.

Pathlight Sacramento is located at 3610 American River Drive, Sacramento, CA, 95864.
