How Professionals Can Get Involved in the 2020 Love Your Tree Campaign
Eating Recovery Center and Insight Behavioral Health are excited to announce Love Your Tree, a body diversity creative arts campaign that kicks off on June 26, 2020, and will last through the end of the year.
Designed to encourage all people to think outside the media’s narrow definition of beauty, this campaign will celebrate the natural diversity of healthy bodies in our world. This campaign originated when Licensed Art Therapist Julia Andersen was inspired by Eve Ensler, a well-known writer and activist. Ensler used the image of a tree in her one-woman play called “The Good Body,” and Andersen expanded this metaphor into a program that utilized art as an avenue to share that every body matters and is unique in its own way.
Years later as the program has adapted, ERC and Insight are proud to continue the campaign to introduce even more individuals to the concept of “Love Your Tree,” and to use the themes during workshops, community exhibits, and educational and professional conferences.
We are encouraging all professional and non-profit partners to join us in this exciting and inspirational campaign. Here's how you can get involved with the 2020 Love Your Tree campaign.
Host a Love Your Tree Workshop
Whether your organization specializes in eating disorders or mental health, hosting a workshop for patients and community members can help them get involved. For this year's Love Your Tree campaign, we have created a step-by-step guide on how to host a virtual or in-person workshop.
You will be equipped with all the tools you need to host this fun event for your patients, your staff or your community. Learn more about hosting a workshop here, or email email@example.com.
Create a Love Your Tree Poster
One great part of participating in Love Your Tree is that anyone can get involved, whether they are artistic or not. We are encouraging everyone to create a Love Your Tree poster, which will showcase what this campaign means to you. You’re then able to submit your artwork via the Love Your Tree website, which will inspire others to get involved.
If you’re sharing your artwork on your professional social media channels, tag ERC and use #LoveYourTree. We’ll be featuring artwork from our partners the entire campaign.
Get Your Community Involved
We want the Love Your Tree campaign to inspire and empower everyone. If you’re participating in the campaign this year, we encourage you to share your participation with your communities. Creating artwork of your own? Share an image on your social channels or in your email marketing.
Attend a CE Event
Eating Recovery Center and Insight Behavioral Health will be offering several CE events throughout the Love Your Tree campaign. These events will equip you to share the campaign with your communities, as well as allow you to earn credits. Stay tuned for more information and dates.
Create a Video and Other Type of Artwork
Encourage your patients, staff and community members by sharing a video highlighting why you are participating in this year’s Love Your Tree campaign. You can use the prompts we provide to participate in the campaign, including: “Like a tree, my body is...” Tell us what makes your “tree” special, and don’t forget to tag ERC.
Don’t want to create a poster or video? There are so many ways to participate in the Love Your Tree campaign. You can write a poem, perform a dance, draw in chalk or whatever else is speaking to you.
