Delia Aldridge, MD, FAPA, CEDS-S
Dr. Delia Aldridge is a Board Certified Psychiatrist with 20 years of experience in treating adults and adolescents with eating disorders, PTSD, personality disorders, substance abuse, self injury, mood and anxiety disorders.
Prior to joining ERC, Dr Aldridge was the Medical Director for AMITA Health, Alexian Brothers Behavioral Medicine Institute - Center for Eating Disorders in Hoffman Estates, IL, a northwest suburb of Chicago.
As an expert in refeeding, she has established a premier refeeding service for pediatric and adult patients with complex psychiatric comorbid conditions including self-injury, PTSD, mood disorders and substance use disorders.
She then earned her medical degree from University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Timisoara, Romania and completed residency with the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Rosalind Franklin University (formerly Finch University) /The Chicago Medical School, where she graduated with Academic Honors in recognition of her commitment to excellence over the course of training. Dr Aldridge served as Academic Chief Resident and was appointed Instructor in Psychiatry during her last year of residency, while she was also the Psychiatry Clerkship Coordinator. She received Resident Teacher of the year award ( 2001) and Distinguished Service Award (2002) from Finch University/The Chicago Medical School.
Presently, Dr. Aldridge is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Rosalind Franklin University/ The Chicago Medical School, teaching medical students and residents about medical complications of eating disorders.
Dr Aldridge’s passion for highest standards in the treatment of eating disorders led her to join the IAEDP Certification Committee where she is actively involved in improving and simplifying the certification process for physicians and nurse practitioners, including International applications. Dr Aldridge is the Certification Chair for Heartland IAEDP and currently , the only MD that is IAEDP Approved supervisor in Illinois – allowing her to provide IAEDP supervision for psychiatrists and nurse practitioners pursuing their eating disorders certification.
Dr. Aldridge co-authored numerous articles and poster presentations, among which recent article in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Mental Health online journal called Psychotherapeutic Approaches to Non-Suicidal Self-Injury in Adolescents. Along with her staff, Dr. Aldridge published a chapter in the 2014 book, Non-Suicidal Self-Injury in Eating Disorders called "Eating Disorders and Non-Suicidal Self-Injury: From Primary Care to Inpatient Hospitalization." Dr. Aldridge is also one of the clinical contributors in the book: Self-Injury: Simple Answers to Complex Questions, addressing the practical approach of psychiatrist in treating this challenging behavior.
Dr Aldridge is volunteering in the Advisory Board for NAMI of Barrington and served in the Finance Committee for the Academy for Eating Disorders. She is a member of American Psychiatric Association, the Illinois Psychiatric Society , the International Association for Eating Disorders Professionals and Academy for Eating Disorders
