This educational presentation will explore the relationship between diabetes and eating disorders. Discussion will include medical challenges of co-occuring eating disorders and diabetes and evidence-based treatment approaches to optimize outcomes. 

The target audience for this continuing education program is mental health providers and clinicians working with individuals with mental health diagnoses. Materials are appropriate for learners with an intermediate level of understanding about mental health concerns.  

Educational Objectives

  • Explain the different types of diabetes commonly encountered
  • Discuss how having both diabetes and an eating disorder can affect treatment outcomes for patients with eating disorders
  • Describe current technology used to treat Insulin-dependent diabetes
