The presentation will offer a comprehensive review of interventions that concentrate on family engagement in the management of eating disorders among children, adolescents, and young adults. The presenters will provide an overview of two primary treatments, namely Family-Based Treatment and Emotion-Focused Family Therapy and will discuss how these treatments can be incorporated into the treatment process in higher levels of care. 

The target audience for this continuing education program is mental health providers and clinicians working with individuals with mental health diagnoses. Materials are appropriate for learners with an introductory level of understanding about mental health concerns.  

Educational Objectives:  

Following this presentation, participants will be able to… 

  • Describe the basic tenets of Family Based Treatment 
  • Discuss the core therapeutic skills of Emotion Focused Family Therapy 
  • Identify how and when FBT and EFFT are indicated for use in higher levels of care
