This presentation will review assessment and establishment of weight goals as it relates to eating disorder recovery. We will review the implications of weight stigma within the health care setting and how it influences care provided. We’ll also discuss ways to educate caregivers on weight goals including how to navigate the phobic threshold. 

The target audience for this continuing education program is mental health providers and clinicians working with individuals with mental health diagnoses. Materials are appropriate for learners with an introductory level of understanding about mental health concerns.  

Educational Objectives

Following this presentation, participants will be able to… 

  • identify elements of a weight-inclusive approach.   
  • describe the phobic threshold and provide education to caregivers.  
  • assess and implement strategies to support setting and monitoring of weight goals.
