This presentation will review the medical consequences of eating disorders, specifically within the cardiovascular system. Discussion will include the evaluation of eating disorder-related nutritional instability on electrolyte and cardiac abnormalities and treatment recommendations.

Educational Objectives:  

Following this presentation, participants will be able to… 

  • Recognize and describe treatment plans for patients with eating disorder related electrolyte abnormalities, refeeding complications, and pseudo-Bartter’s syndrome.
  • Assess, diagnose, and describe treatment plans for patients with cardiac abnormalities resulting from eating disorder-related malnutrition.
  • Discuss symptom profiles indicative of patient risk for treatment complications
