Tricia Besett-Alesch, PhD

Dr. Tricia Besett-Alesch (she/her/hers) is the Director of Counseling & Psychological Services at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL). She is a licensed psychologist and has worked at UNL for over 20 years. Dr. Besett-Alesch completed her undergraduate degree in psychology at Iowa State University, her master’s degree in clinical psychology at the University of Northern Iowa, and her doctorate degree in counseling psychology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Dr. Besett-Alesch has spent her career devoted to college mental health. Her clinical areas of expertise are in trauma, grief, eating disorders, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and family of origin concerns. She works with clients by honoring diversity factors, current stage of change, and various contextual factors. She sees her own cultural humility as an essential aspect in her work. She loves training burgeoning psychologists and is a social justice advocate. During her free time, Dr. Besett-Alesch enjoys spending time with her family. She has a King Charles Cavalier and English Labrador. It is very important to note she adores them both equally. Her favorite time away is in the mountains where she is able to be reflective, mindful, and enjoy the tranquility of nature.
