This presentation will discuss medical and psychological treatment of anxiety disorders in children and adolescents. Specific topics will address the complexities of treating comorbid anxiety disorders, novel treatment approaches, and the importance of the multidisciplinary team in the treatment of these disorders. The presenter will explain the importance of medication management in conjunction with psychotherapy and how this team approach impacts patient outcomes.

 

Educational Objectives

Following this presentation, participants will be able to…

  • Describe factors affecting treatment response in pediatric patients receiving treatment for anxiety disorders.
  • Discuss treatment of anxiety disorders with co-morbidities including OCD, Tic disorders, ADHD and Mood disorders.
  • Identify and define risks and benefits of novel pharmacological and non-pharmacological (i.e., nutraceuticals) treatments.
