Expert care built around your child — and your family

At Pathlight Northbrook, we provide mental health treatment for kids and teens ages 12-18. Our programs are led by psychiatrists, tailored to your child’s needs and designed to adapt as they grow.

We specialize in treating:

  • Anxiety, depression and mood disorders
  • OCD, trauma and substance use with dedicated tracks
  • Co-occurring diagnoses, including ADHD and disordered eating

We start with a free clinical assessment to understand what your child is going through. Then, we create a plan to help them feel safe and your family feel supported as you move forward together.

Four levels of care, all in one place.

We offer different levels of support depending on what your child needs. As their needs change, their care plan adjusts with the same trusted team. This continuity supports real progress and smoother transitions home.

  • Residential

Full-time care in a safe, supportive setting with therapy, meals, nursing and 24/7 supervision.

  • Partial Hospitalization (PHP)

Daytime mental health treatment five days a week with evenings at home to practice skills in a real-world setting.

  • Intensive Outpatient (IOP)

Targeted support three hours a day, three days a week — making it easy to stay connected to school and home.

  • Virtual IOP (VIOP)

Pathlight At Home Illinois offers the same schedule and support as in-person IOP through secure video sessions.

Spaces designed for healing — and being a kid

At Pathlight, expert care is just the start. Our days are structured to help kids recharge, connect with others and be themselves.

Each week includes:

  • Academic support: Two licensed education specialists help kids stay on track with school.
  • Creative expression: Art and yoga therapy offer ways to process and express emotions.
  • Peer connection: Shared experiences like movie nights and spa days help build trust and community.
  • Time outdoors: A private walking path, picnic table, gazebo and 30-foot hummingbird mural offer space to move and feel free.
  • Screen time: Kids can earn screen time as they progress through the program, depending on caregiver preferences.
  • Family visits: On and off-site visits strengthen bonds and support progress at home.

Support for families every step of the way

When it comes to mental health care, many people focus on the person struggling. But loved ones need support, too. The Pathlight Northbrook team works closely with your family to help you feel prepared and confident during treatment and beyond.

You’ll receive:

  • Weekly family therapy sessions
  • Practical skills for challenges like school refusal and getting your child to shower
  • Regular updates from your child’s care team
  • Free virtual support groups during and after treatment
  • Resources to help you feel more confident at home

Treatment only works when your child feels safe being themselves

Every child deserves care that recognizes their identity, honors their experiences and meets them where they are.

Our team is trained to support:

  • Neurodivergent youth
  • LGBTQ+ youth
  • Kids who’ve struggled to see results in past care settings

We don’t expect trust. We work to earn it by ensuring every child feels seen, understood and genuinely cared for.

20,000 lives changed here. Your child’s can, too.

Our physician-led teams continue to advance treatment — and parents see the difference.

89% of parents say they’re likely to recommend Pathlight.

After years of seizures and hospitalizations, we were desperate. Pathlight gave our 16-year-old daughter her life back. She’s thriving in life and school again and has been seizure-free for 14 weeks. We cannot thank the staff at Pathlight enough.
